Protect your Friends like Gold!

If you must let someone down, be sure it isn’t the friend who helped you up when you were down.

We all have short memories. We become preoccupied with our own interests and daily cares, and it’s easy to lose track of friends. There will always be times when you must choose between what you wish to do and what you must do.

When you are faced with such decisions, make sure you always remember those true and loyal friends who were there when you needed them, and never, under any circumstances, abandon them.

When you let down a friend who helped you when you needed it most, you will not only adversely affect the friendship; you will seriously damage your own self-respect. When you fail a friend, regardless of how heavy your own burdens may be, you also fail yourself. If you absolutely cannot do what good friends would like, find another way to make it up to them.

The safest and best way to punish one who has done you an injustice is to do him or her a kind deed in return.

People will always respond in kind, even in greater measure than that which is delivered to them. This commonplace need for retaliation can be replaced with a response designed to convert an enemy into a friend. If you get rid of the millstone of pride, you can respond to an injustice with a kind deed.

It may take time to make this work, but if you treat those who dislike you with unfailing kindness, they will eventually succumb to your influence and “retaliate” in kind.

As Napoleon Hill said, “The hottest coals of fire ever heaped upon the head of one who has wronged you are the coals of human kindness.”

Feed thought-follow wisdom!

We are just beginning to understand the mysterious and powerful ways in which the mind works. The wise person makes sure that they give  clear, concise, instructions to their mind so that they receive trust worthy thoughts in return.

Feed your mind the big 4 questions and watch the strength of thoughts you get back.

1.   What is going on or should be done
2.   Why should something be done
3.   When is action needed to be done
4.   Where is something needed

. . .and then wait to receive the feedback thoughts. You will get:

. . .How should action be taken?

This process encourages the power of both your conscious thinking and also your unconscious wisdom. Breaking down the issue into it’s 4 input parts gives your wisdom tools time for input and guidance.

Many “new” ideas are really nothing more than a new combination of two well-known products or ideas. Nevertheless, great fortunes have been built upon such combinations when they are supported by a clever name and marketing campaign.

For Example:
The man who dipped a chunk of ice cream in chocolate and called it Eskimo Pie made a fortune for the five seconds of imagination it took to create the idea.

James Webb Young outlined a definite process that we can use to tap into this process in his book A Technique for Producing Ideas:

1.   Gather the appropriate information.
2.   Work the information over in your mind.
3.   Incubate the idea in your subconscious.
4.   Recognize the “Eureka!” stage when the idea is born.
5.   Shape and develop the idea for practical application.

The technique works. Give it a try the next time you’re searching for a creative solution to an old problem.

Desire – Secret to What Matters!

If you have pondered and solidified your Life’s Purpose, then a major tuning folk has been established for your life.  This purpose will guide you through all of life choices as we talked about previously

http://www.themattermeter.com/?cat=10

We are sure you are asking Why?  The fast answer is because it triggers DESIRE!

Your emotional system will activate and tell you whether a choice brings you closer or farther away from your Life’s Purpose.

If you want to act successfully in all but the most mundane affairs, you must embrace that purpose with a burning desire. Many people think they want to be successful, but since they do not back that thought with an intense drive, they never achieve success.

Cultivate your desire. Feed it with thoughts of yourself enjoying whatever it is you seek. It’s like stoking the furnace of a steam engine. You need to build up enough pressure to carry yourself over hills; if your desire doesn’t burn hotly enough, you’ll find yourself stalled and rolling backwards.

The secret to action is a red-hot desire. Choose the things that trigger  both Conscious and Unconscious desire and enjoy the results!

A burning desire to be and to do is the starting point from which the dreamer must take off. Dreams are not born of indifference, laziness, or lack of ambition.

In planning to acquire your share of the riches, its really important to NOT listen to the people who are trying to steal your dream.

Do you Worry about Decisions?

What would the world be like now if Steve Jobs worried about his original opinion about the cell phone?

“We don’t think we’d do well in the cell phone business.”
— Steve Jobs (2003)

How about Edison?

“Fooling around with alternating current is just a waste of time. Nobody will use it, ever.”
— Thomas Edison (1889)

Make a decision and see how it plays out. Worrying over conditions once we have reached a decision . . . tends to create the failure we fear!

You take the first important step toward determining your own future when you make the conscious decision to approach every task with a positive outlook and to stick with the job until it is done.

If you find this attitude difficult at first, you’ll discover it eventually becomes part of you. And after you begin to realize the benefits that accrue to you because you are known as someone who always gives a little extra, you wouldn’t consider doing things any other way.

The people who are promoted to the best positions in the company are those who make it a practice to go the extra mile, to do more than they are paid to do, and to do it willingly and cheerfully.

“I think one of my strengths is that I view anything that has happened up to this point to be history. I really don’t care about the mistakes I made three seconds ago in the market.
What I care about is what I am going to do from the next moment on”
– Paul Tudor-Jones (in Market Wizards)

Baby Steps Add Up!

How do we eat an Elephant?  One bite at a time . . . ya ya right . . . what’s the point!

How do we eat an elephant...one bite at a timeThe point is that we think 1,000’s of thoughts per day – are they helping or hurting us?

If we fill our minds with negative and destructive thinking, how can our life get better?  Please really let this soak in.  We manifest what we think about. If we want bad, think about what’s wrong! I we want good, we must fill our mind with what’s possible!

This does not mean ignoring problems … it mean Focusing on protecting and resolving issues – not the problem itself.

Henry Ford is reported to have offered $25,000 to anyone who would show him how to save a single nut and bolt on each automobile he made.

Without Henry Ford, our country would not be the America we know today. His obsession with reducing costs and improving productivity allowed him to build the first automobile that ordinary people could afford and led to the construction of a vast network of roads and highways that gave birth to today’s mobile society.

We would all be well advised to take a page from the lessons that the automotive industry has learned in recent years. An obsessive focus on the needs and wants of our customers allows us to become an indispensable part of their lives.

Most important to us here at the Matter Meter, Mr Ford filled his thinking and incentive to employees with positive thinking and focus on improvement – and the world is better for it!

Are you Honest…Tell the Truth!

There is a point we take here at the Matter Meter in which we feel there is no Grey Area.

You are either honest or dishonest. Period!

There can be no compromise between the two because your mind cannot think well under both philosophy’s.

Our personalities are formed through the series of habits we perfect over time as we continue to repeat them.  This is the basis of affirmations and habit building.

After 21 days your mind accepts that a pattern will continue so it accepts it as normal. And this is the problem.  The first time you allow dishonest into your habits, your mind begins to accept it as normal for you and you step out on the ledge.

Honesty is a spiritual quality that cannot be evaluated in terms of money.

Officials who deal with fraud and theft say they are often amazed at the small amounts of money some people will steal. Some people will sell their integrity for a pittance. To those individuals, dishonest behavior is not an occasional occurrence — it is a way of life. Those who lie about insignificant things or steal trivial amounts of money will develop the habit of lying and stealing.

There are many practical reasons to practice honesty. It requires far less effort to be truthful than to be deceitful, and in the long term the risks are fewer and the rewards greater. But in today’s complex society, the boundaries of acceptable behavior have been blurred until they are sometimes indistinguishable. Laws and codes of ethics establish minimum standards of behavior.

Make sure you establish standards for yourself that exceed such minimums, a standard below which you will not allow yourself to fall, regardless of what others may do or say. Your own set of standards will allow you to decide quickly and easily upon an appropriate course of action when faced with a difficult problem.

As you look back on your own behavior, can you do so with pride in the knowledge that you have always been honest?

If you cannot, perhaps it is time to think about the times when you chose dishonest behavior. Why did you do it? Was it worth it?

Wouldn’t the consequences of being honest and truthful have been far better in those circumstances? Learn from your mistakes and vow that from this day forward you will always be honest.

Control your Mind, Control Life!

When you take charge of your mind, you take charge of your life.

sunhandWhen you understand your thoughts, feelings, emotions, and desires, you can direct them to any end you choose. Wisdom comes from taking the time to study yourself, to know why you are the person you are. Taking charge of your mind is a thoughtful, reflective, solitary process. Only you can come to understand the complex inner workings of your own mind, and you must be willing to spend the time and effort that gaining such insight requires.

Theoretical knowledge without practical experience might be surprisedmancompared to a large mass of undirected energy. Until it is focused, it is difficult to direct the energy to a useful end. Practical experience is the lens through which the energy of knowledge may be focused and directed toward activities that will provide the greatest benefit.

When you learn new concepts or have an idea that has not yet been tested, make it a practice to think through its application carefully before implementation. When you have considered the possibilities, and it still seems to be a good idea — get into action. The only way to get practical experience is to get to work executing your idea.
