Baby Steps Add Up!

How do we eat an Elephant?  One bite at a time . . . ya ya right . . . what’s the point!

How do we eat an elephant...one bite at a timeThe point is that we think 1,000’s of thoughts per day – are they helping or hurting us?

If we fill our minds with negative and destructive thinking, how can our life get better?  Please really let this soak in.  We manifest what we think about. If we want bad, think about what’s wrong! I we want good, we must fill our mind with what’s possible!

This does not mean ignoring problems … it mean Focusing on protecting and resolving issues – not the problem itself.

Henry Ford is reported to have offered $25,000 to anyone who would show him how to save a single nut and bolt on each automobile he made.

Without Henry Ford, our country would not be the America we know today. His obsession with reducing costs and improving productivity allowed him to build the first automobile that ordinary people could afford and led to the construction of a vast network of roads and highways that gave birth to today’s mobile society.

We would all be well advised to take a page from the lessons that the automotive industry has learned in recent years. An obsessive focus on the needs and wants of our customers allows us to become an indispensable part of their lives.

Most important to us here at the Matter Meter, Mr Ford filled his thinking and incentive to employees with positive thinking and focus on improvement – and the world is better for it!

What are you Broadcasting?

We have all experience the feeling of someone looking at us and we turn to catch them … how did we do this?  Just like a radio but with thought!

Every human brain is both a broadcasting station and a receiving station for the vibrations of thought.

Whatever the actual science of thought transmissions may be, it is true that if you wish to receive the power contained in the thoughts of others, you must condition your mind to receive those ideas. Listening helps condition your mind to receive valuable information contained in the thoughts of others.

Set aside any preconceived notions you may have about the topic, and listen attentively and nonjudgmentally to what is being said. Focus on the information, not on the speaker. Try to identify key concepts behind the speaker’s words. Train your mind to identify and absorb information that others often miss because their “receivers” are not tuned to the proper frequency.

There is harmony throughout the universe in everything except human relationships.

Our universe is characterized by order and harmony, yet we human beings must constantly struggle to achieve the same characteristics in our relationships. In fact, human beings seem to find it unnatural to cooperate with others.

Successful individuals are those who have learned to swim against the current, to do the things that others refuse to do. They have learned how to work together for the benefit of the entire group.

Achieving harmony in any relationship — business, personal, or professional — requires work. Take comfort in the fact that you’ll accomplish far more working with others than working against them. Demonstrate that you care about all the members of your team.

Please remember….Riches begin in the form of thought!

The United States is the great experiment in positive thinking; our entire system of government is based upon faith in the inherent goodness of the individual. It was a revolutionary idea more than 200 years ago when the Declaration of Independence was first signed. Borrowing from the greatest thinkers in history, our founding fathers established a form of government of the people that is today the model most imitated around the world.

futureEconomic and political conditions ebb and flow, but as long as we have a democratic society that celebrates the individual, we can achieve anything in life we desire.

All you require to be successful in the United States is the desire to achieve success and the determination to stick with it until you reach your goals.

Courage or Conviction – Both!

If you have sound character, your decisions will be sound and you will generally not have worry about your reputation.

convictionThomas Jefferson once said that a majority is one man with the courage of his convictions. If you have the courage that comes from the sincere conviction that you are a person of sound character, an honest, dependable, kind, and caring person, you will never have to worry about what others think of you.

If you know in your own heart that you are a good and decent person, you can meet life’s challenges head-on and without fear of what others think.

High wages and the capacity to assume responsibility are two things that belong together.

honestyIt’s been said that a leader’s job is to inspire others to high levels of achievement, while a manager’s job is to protect the assets of investors. The most successful people are those who recognize the similarities and differences between leadership and management responsibilities, fulfilling both with equal skill and aplomb. When they do, they realize the rewards that are commensurate with their efforts.

When you cheerfully accept responsibility for your own actions and do your job in a way that protects the interests of your employer, you will soon be entrusted with more and more responsibilities. And those who have the capacity to assume responsibility — for the success of the project or organization — will always be paid the highest salaries.

Thoughts are Things!

Every thought you release — good or bad — is a form of energy that can affect those who receive it, for better or worse. You become what you think about most.

If you think about success, you condition your mind to seek success, and you attract large portions of it. Conversely, if you think about failure and despair, you will become miserable and desperate. To keep your mind on a positive track, the moment you begin to experience creeping negativism, make a conscious decision to eliminate negative thoughts and replace them with their positive counterparts.

Success throws itself on the side of those who do what is right.

We human beings are the only creatures on earth who have the capacity for belief. That capacity, combined with our almost innate capability to distinguish right from wrong, provides us with a formidable power in our quest for a richer, more rewarding life.

dog-pet-close-upWhen you set goals for yourself, make sure they are based on doing the right thing for your family, your friends, your employees, and yourself.

When others see that you are fair and just in your dealings with them and that you are a generous, principled person, they will move heaven and earth for you.

Please remember that every thought you release becomes the energy that creates a permanent part of your character. Positive and negative emotions cannot occupy the mind at the same time.

Make sure you are wearing what you want with your thoughts!

What is good Enough?

If you were your own employer, would you be entirely satisfied with the day’s work you have done today?

At the end of the day, it matters little what others think of you; what’s important is work-in-progresswhat you think about yourself. As you reflect on your day’s work, ask yourself, “Have I given 100 percent of my time and talents today? If this were my company, would I like it to be filled with hundreds of other people just like me, or would I prefer to hire individuals with a little more initiative?” When you have become the kind of person you would like to work with or have working for you, you aren’t far from the day when you will own the company — or at least become a valuable part of it. Most important, you can sleep soundly at night, serene in the knowledge that you have done your best, that you have earned your pay, and that you have met the standards of performance you require of yourself.

amazed-emoticonEmotions are sometimes strange, volatile, and unpredictable. They do not always respond to logic and reason. They do, however, respond to action. If you have occasional feelings of loneliness, discouragement, or discontentment, the best way to kill such negative emotions is to work them to death. Almost nothing is as bad as it first seems, and there’s nothing like a hard day’s work to put everything in proper perspective. When you begin to feel negative emotions, dwelling on your misfortunes only makes you feel worse. Do your best to put them out of your mind and think about more positive, constructive things. Physical labor can help. Choose a task that doesn’t require a great deal of concentration, and then focus on accomplishing the task at hand.

When you begin to think and grow rich, you will observe that riches begin with a state of mind, with definiteness of purpose, with little or no hard work.

Your attitude changes your World!

Change your mental attitude, and the world around you will change accordingly. One sound idea is all that one needs to achieve success.

youcantdoeverythingYour world will become what you choose to make it. You can reach great heights of success, or you can settle for a miserable life that is devoid of hope. The choice is yours.

When you choose a positive course, you set in motion an unstoppable force that will allow you to have a fulfilling career, the love of your family and friends, good physical and mental health, and all of the other true riches of life. To change your world, you must change it from the inside out. You must begin with yourself. When you choose the course that puts your life on a positive track, you will change your life for the better, and you will also positively influence the people with whom you come in contact.

The two kinds of people who never get ahead are those who will not do what they are told and those who do only what they are told.

boxedinIt’s hard to say which would be more discouraging: drifting from job to job because you’re always the first to be laid off, or laboring in monotonous obscurity at the same job. The first results from not doing what you are told to do, the second from doing only what you are told to do. You can “get by” for a time following either approach, but you will never get ahead.

Personal initiative is more important in today’s enlightened, high-tech workplace than it was during the Industrial Age, when the ability to follow orders was a critical skill. As technology makes many supervisory functions obsolete, every one of us is expected to do more with less, determine what needs to be done, and do it. Don’t wait to be told. Know your company and your job so well that you can anticipate what needs to be done — then do it! Stop explaining and start doing!

What you Really Control

Does it feel like life is kicking you around and you are being impacted by things out of your control? We have all been there at some point in life.

Here at the Matter Meter, we believe that how you handle these feelings is one of the most important steps in your life! Why?

Because the only thing that we Truly control is how our mind reacts to life circumstances. The fact is that our thoughts and the emotional reaction to these thoughts is ALL  we control.

Life circumstances are inputs – what really matters is our mind and  attitude.  Those who program themselves for success find a way to succeed even in the most difficult of circumstances.  External forces are the bumps along the process to success.

Living life to the fullest is a lot like shooting the rapids in a rubber raft. Once you’ve made the commitment, it’s difficult to change your mind, turn around, and paddle upstream to placid waters. But it’s the excitement and adventure that make it all worthwhile. If you never make the attempt, you may never know the depths of despair, but neither will you experience the exhilaration of success.

Don’t look to the stars for the cause of your misfortunes: use the wisdom inside yourself to make choices and obtain the results you deserve!

There are many things you cannot control, but you can control the only things that really matter: your mind and your attitude. External forces have very little to do with success. Those who program themselves for success find a way to succeed even in the most difficult of circumstances.

Solutions to most problems come from one source and one source alone: yourself.

Integrity Matters . . .

One of life’s greatest joys is the sense of wonder that accompanies the arrival of a tiny new human being into the world. But that joy is accompanied by a tremendous responsibility and personal integrity…..now someone IS watching.

It is so easy to forget that the world around us watches our every move – mirroring the good and bad we do.

This process really shows itself in the growth of our children.  We can provide them with all the physical advantages of a good childhood, but unless we the parents strive to set a good example for them to follow, there is a high probability they will drift through life without purpose.

By living a life of integrity whether we think anyone is watching or not, we live exemplary behavior. All those around us will benefit by the great example and we will draw too us all that we wish for a joyous life.

However, taking ethical shortcuts, either big or small, without other people observing them and assuming that this behavior is something you wouldn’t mind having turned back on yourself.

Certainly we all make mistakes, but if you have always striven for the best course, others will remember it and treat you accordingly.

Impossible? If we think so

Through some strange and powerful principle of “mental chemistry” which she has never divulged, Nature wraps up in the impulse of strong desire “that something” which recognizes no such word as impossible, and accepts no such reality as failure.

Don’t leave something as important as your character to chance.

Choose the character traits you admire, and work to develop them. Don’t be discouraged when you stumble. Building character is a process that takes a lifetime to complete. Fortunately, like anything else, the more you work at character building, the better you become at it.

Some people resemble a cheap watch. They are not dependable.

It would be unrealistic to expect an inexpensive, mass-produced watch to perform with the same degree of accuracy as a finely crafted Rolex.

If you try and fail, make another effort, and still another, until you succeed.
